Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for the conference ‘Emotional Objects: Touching Emotions in Europe 1600-1900’ at the Institute of Historical Research in London, from 11th-12th October 2013.

We are delighted to bring together a wide range of international speakers from a number of different disciplines. Panels across the two days will discuss romantic and maternal love, mourning, faith, fear, space, crafting, memory, identity and a host of other topics exploring the material culture of emotions in Europe. Emotional Objects Programme Final

The keynote speech will be given by Professor John Styles (University of Hertfordshire), entitled ‘Objects and Emotions: The London Foundling Hospital Tokens, 1741-1760.’

The conference is free to attend, and is funded by the European Research Council Project Spinning in the Era of the Spinning Wheel 1400-1800.
