Registration is now open for the conference ‘Emotional Objects: Touching Emotions in Europe 1600-1900’ at the Institute of Historical Research in London, from 11th-12th October 2013.
We are delighted to bring together a wide range of international speakers from a number of different disciplines. Panels across the two days will discuss romantic and maternal love, mourning, faith, fear, space, crafting, memory, identity and a host of other topics exploring the material culture of emotions in Europe. The full programme is available here:
The keynote speech will be given by Professor John Styles (University of Hertfordshire), entitled ‘Objects and Emotions: The London Foundling Hospital Tokens, 1741-1760.’
The conference is free to attend, and is funded by the European Research Council Project Spinning in the Era of the Spinning Wheel 1400-1800.
Places are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. To register for a place please email the convenors Sally Holloway (Royal Holloway) and Alice Dolan (University of Hertfordshire) at email@example.com.
